De la Lune
This series explores female archetypes from early 20th-century cinema and photography.
While my subjects are imagined, they reference historical icons and the inherent contradictions they embodied. It is vital to my practice that each subject possesses the strength and attitude to be an active participant in their own portrait. This agency is underscored by references to the moon, symbolizing feminine power and intuition.
Where they meet our gaze, they actively challenge us to objectify them—fully conscious of their position in the history of the muse.
