An oil portrait is very special, a truly luxurious item to be treasured and passed down through generations. I use high quality paints and canvas or cradled wooden panels to make precious portraits which should last life times.

 

Using traditional techniques I build up a sophisticated illusion using many layers and glazes of paint, working with impasto in the final layers to create a beautiful painterly surface. I especially love the possibilities oil paint offers for creating atmospheric pictorial depth and this is something I am currently developing in my practice.

Capturing a true likeness of my subjects is of utmost importance to me and I take great joy seeing my subjects come to life on the canvas.

Oil paintings can be made in any size and can be hung framed or unframed.
