Beautiful pencil drawings are such a treasure; this medium suits smaller pieces for more intimate hanging spaces. Think timeless alternative to a framed photo. And they really are timeless!  Several clients have told me they have commissioned  me because they feel a drawing will date much better than a photograph.

Pencil portraits are quicker to make than my charcoal drawings and therefore cheaper but no less special. They make the perfect gift, with memories to last a life time.

I use pencil in a similar way to my other mediums, building up subtle layers of mark making to produce an outcome which creates a believable illusion whilst retaining the qualities of a hand made art work. Graphite is perfect for details so is perfect for recreating someone's likeness at a smaller scale.
